How Autumn Found Its Way Into Our Brushes

A look behind the November Daydream Dispatch for our societies — where spice, softness, and story meet.

There’s something about autumn that makes the world feel both brand new and gently familiar. The light turns amber, the air sharpens, and even the smallest details — the steam rising from a mug, the crunch of leaves — start whispering stories.

A mouse, a gnome, and a monster all meet in a forest…

When we began sketching this month’s pieces for the Skip Sketch Society, we wanted to capture that particular kind of warmth — the one that feels like it lives inside you. Every brushstroke this month was dipped in cinnamon, moss, and candlelight.

It started, as many of our pieces do, with tiny fragments of daydreams:

  • A mouse curled up in a fallen leaf — as if the world itself had tucked them in.

  • A blue owl monster with antlers, perched among spice jars, guarding a bundle of cinnamon sticks like a treasured relic.

  • A gnome pausing mid-adventure to savor a latte, only to discover a mischievous sprite stirring in an extra dash of magic.

Together, these scenes became a study in coziness — a reminder that even the smallest creatures deserve a soft place to rest.

The process was slower this month, on purpose. The studio smelled of clove and oil paint. We traded sketches and color swatches, debating the exact shade of “cinnamon dusk.”

By the time the final prints were finished, we realized something simple but true: autumn doesn’t just inspire art — it teaches us to linger. To savor. To find meaning in small rituals, like sketching at golden hour or stirring cream into coffee or sipping a warm cup of tea.

We hope that when you open your November Dispatch, you feel that same quiet comfort — that sense of belonging to a world where imagination is the coziest season of all.

Thanks for stopping by. 🖤

Until next time,

— The Skip Sketch Studio Team
